Take It Home
Colour is always braver on holiday. A blue shutter in Oaxaca. Red earth against green fields in West Cornwall. You notice it, you photograph it, then you come home and play it safe. This edit is about closing that gap. We asked two tastemakers to act as our colour editors for summer, translating the places that stayed with them into palettes that work in UK homes. Molly Goddard Jeffery brought back Mexico. Lily Bertrand-Webb brought back Cornwall. Four shades each, chosen for a feeling rather than a postcard.
Inspired by
Mexico
Molly Goddard Jeffery's palette starts in Mexico City, in the pink Luis Barragán made ordinary. Not sweet, not decorative, but structural - a colour used the way most people use white. From there it moves south to Oaxaca: the workshops of San Martín Tilcajete, the embroidery, the burnished black clay, the green pressing in from every courtyard. Discover the shades that carry the warmth of both places, whilst being perfect in a UK home.

Inspired in
Cornwall
Lily Bertrand-Webb has always been drawn to green and blue together, the way they always meet in nature if you stand still long enough. She learned it in West London and then found it properly in Dominica, her grandparents' island. When she moved to West Cornwall last year, the landscape kept reminding her of that red earth against green fields. She wasn't looking for a palette so much as a feeling. Six shades, all of them somewhere she has been.
