Floor Paint Paint FAQs
Here are all the things we typically get asked about Floor Paint. But if there’s something you want to know which isn’t here, please do just drop us an email at hello@coatpaints.com.
COAT Floor Paint is designed for interior use on prepared wood floors, concrete, and general household flooring. It's not suitable for walls or ceilings - for those, our Flat Matt or Soft Sheen are the ones you need.
COAT Floor Paint has a 20% eggshell finish - durable enough to handle daily foot traffic, with good hardness and scuff resistance, while still looking considered and refined underfoot.
Two coats are recommended for the best result. Coverage is approximately 15m² per litre, so factor that in when calculating how much you need for your space. Touch dry in 2 hours, re-coatable after 4.
Almost every colour in the COAT range is available in Floor Paint finish - so you're not limited to a handful of standard shades. Made to order, as always, so your floor colour is mixed fresh specifically for you.
COAT Floor Paint is touch dry in 2 hours and re-coatable after 4 - though give it a little longer in cooler or damp conditions. For best results, allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next.
The longer the better, really. It will be dry in 4 hours - but not fully cured (hardened) until 72 hours after the final coat has dried. To ensure maximum robustness, try and wait a few days if you're able.
For most prepared wood floors, no primer is needed. That said, if you're working with a heavily repaired surface or one with varying porosity, a primer coat is worth doing first. Or else the surface can drink the paint, or it won't adhere properly. If in doubt, drop the COAT team a message - we'll point you in the right direction.
