Meet Thorns
Nobody readies a rose quite like Thorns. He’s been arranging flowers in Margate for longer than he'd care to admit. Reading what his customers like most, whilst they read him right back. The problem is that they always seem to see the thorns, before the rose. It's a very human thing, to make your mind up quickly. To see what's on the outside and work backwards from there. Margate knows that feeling well - a town that’s spent decades being read at face value, with little attention paid to its true character. Until recently - as more people realise that the deepest relationships we form in life, are never immediately understood. Handle with care. But handle, all the same.
Mrs Ethel Baits comes from a long line of Margate fishing legends. Gigantic catches. Serious reputation. The kind of family story that gets told on the shores for generations.

Meet Mrs. Ethel Baits
Coming from a long line of fishing legends, her performance out on the water hasn’t quite buried the family business - but it’s come close. Her catches are dwarfed by those of her mother and her grandmother, whose eyes peer down hopelessly from the walls in her home.But she's back on that seafront every single day come rain or shine, with the kind of resilience that doesn't need an audience. Unbothered by expectation, or material gain. And that's the thing about Margate. It's never been about big gestures or expectations. It’s independent, unpolished, and quietly brilliant - without apology or performance. Because life’s not about the size of the fish you catch. It’s about the line you cast.
