Sustainable products are a no-brainer at COAT. We balance durability, sustainability, and flawless results - so there's never a compromise. Backing COAT means making a smarter, more environmentally conscious choice.
COAT Paint
All COAT paint is water-based, and free of solvents. Unlike most, we don't batch produce paint to sit on shelves. Instead we make every tin to order, just for you - which means no overproduction or waste in our process, and fresher paint for you:
- Water-based and solvent-free
- Low VOC
- UK sourced and made
- 100% Vegan friendly (no animal ingredients)
- 100% Animal cruelty free (no animal testing)
Paint Supplies
Plastic paint brushes are the cheapest and most widely available option. But like tester pots, they’re usually non-recyclable virgin plastic and destined for landfill. Not good enough. COAT has developed our own range of high-grade eco supplies, made using sustainable bamboo and recycled materials. They're deeply conscious, are a dream to paint with, and will last a lifetime. We’re also purchasing in bulk to reduce our carbon footprint from shipping.
Clever Little Samples
How many wasted tester pots are in your drawer or shed? Typical paint tester pots are wasteful and usually not recyclable. People buy loads of them, and they knock around in draws or go straight to landfill. So we changed the game with COAT Peel & Stick Swatches, and 95% less waste. Any conscious business thinks hard about single-use plastics, and our Swatches are the pack leader when it comes to practical and responsible choices:
- 95% less waste than a conventional 200ml tester pot (our swatches use 10ml of paint)
- 100% Adhesive free (no solvents)
- 100% Recyclable PET material
- 100% Colour accurate real paint
The Future
Our paints are extremely Low VOC, and entirely water based - which means they lead the pack when it comes to planet friendly formulations. But like others we still use some Acrylic resin, to make sure COAT paint stands up to modern life’s scuffs, knocks and spills. Clay and lime resins just don’t cut the mustard sadly, unless you want to re-paint all the time. We’re always working on clever formula improvements so keep watching this space.
