Marie Claire Sustainability Awards 2022: ‘The Best Eco-friendly Decorating Brand’ Winners

We're really excited to have been awarded ‘The Best Eco-friendly Decorating Brand’ and to have been Highly Commended (runner up) for ‘The Best Carbon Footprint’ in the Marie Claire Sustainability Awards 2022 🌱

This is the second year the awards have taken place, created to recognise the eco-conscious businesses that are taking the steps needed to reduce their impact and genuinely implementing change and building a better tomorrow. And we’re thrilled to have won alongside game-changers such as Naturalamat, Holistic London, Akojo Market and hope that more interior and lifestyle brands join us to drive the conversation.

Being eco-friendly doesn’t have to be boring or inconvenient, we like to think that we’ve done the hard work for you but take Marie’s Claire’s word for it…

“COAT isn’t just a carbon-neutral paint brand but a regenerative company – I really rate that its aim is to contribute more to the world than it takes. The company’s smart solutions make its carbon-neutral offering seem almost effortless (though I’ve no doubt it isn’t). It’s also the first certified Climate Positive paint company in the UK and is now B-Corp pending, too,” says Ally Head, Health & Sustainability Editor at Marie Claire.

“COAT is proudly championing a new way to paint that’s simple, eco-conscious, and rooted in doing right. Unlike most paints produced, the entire COAT range is entirely water-based, ultra-low VOC (2g/L), odour-free and vegan.”

More about our sustainability drive

We know that people are re-evaluating the way they spend their money now more than ever which means refocusing on sustainability goals and being more conscious. Figuring out how to make your home more green can feel overwhelming but making changes in your home is a great place to start. Decorating is about creating spaces people love, that last - and we want the planet to last too.

You probably know all about our eco values but here’s a bit more info just in case ✌️

‘COAT is proudly championing the new way to paint that’s simple, consciously, and rooted in doing right for our generation to the next. We’re building COAT as a regenerative company that contributes more to the world than it takes and leading the change with cleaner products, smarter solutions, and bigger changes’, says Rob Abrahams, COAT’s co-founder.

Eco supplies and recyclable packaging

‘Operating off a unique zero-waste system, COAT paint is made to order and offers recyclable ‘Peel & Stick’ swatches, which are 95% less wasteful than a traditional tester pot, using just 8ml of paint to make. Its packaging is completely recyclable, too (even the aluminium tin) and the brand offers a 360-degree-recycling programme to ensure customers can return empty tins or leftover paint for reprocessing’ says Marie Claire.

Check out our eco-supplies here and find out more about what they’re made of 📦

Did you know we recycle your paint?

We’re proud that all COAT packaging is entirely recyclable including our Infinite Aluminium tin. We also offer a 360 recycling programme where customers can return empty tins or leftover paint to us for full recycling ♻️ The paint is re-processed into other paint products, and the tins and packaging are all fully processed too.

Contact us here to organise your recycling.

Regenerative business - Climate Positive Paint

We’re the only Certified Climate Positive paint company in the UK. We’ve partnered with Carbon Jacked as an independent third party to review, measure, and offset our emissions. Not only that but we’ve decided to double-offset that carbon figure by contributing financially to forest preservation projects, meaning we actually give back more to the planet than we (and our supply chain) takes.

Watch this space.

We’re massively proud of our achievements and sustainability mission to date, there’s so much that can still be done 💪 We have a plan to lobby our supply chain, bring innovation to the table, implement cutting edge work practices and continue to reduce carbon emissions in house and with our entire supply chain.

We want to say a huge thanks to Marie Claire and to our COAT community, it’s really great to be on this journey together 🙌
